Five Booked in Vadodara for ₹2.62 Crore Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Land Compensation Fraud

Vadodara: A resident of Padra has alleged that his maternal uncle and four others forged documents in the name of his deceased mother to fraudulently claim over ₹2.62 crore in compensation paid for land acquired for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project.

Based on a complaint filed by Lalji Soma Padhiyar, a resident of Ranu village in Padra taluka, Raopura police have registered an FIR against his maternal uncle Nathu Khushal Parmar, along with Samantsinh Adesinh Parmar, Takhatsinh Parmar, Rajendra R. Parmar, and notary Ila C. Parekh.

According to the complaint, Padhiyar’s mother, Surajben, passed away on January 10, 2023. She was one of the legal heirs to ancestral land in Sherkhi village, jointly owned with her father, Khushal Parmar.

A portion of the land was acquired in 2017 for the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project. Padhiyar alleged that during the first round of compensation in 2018, more than ₹3.26 crore was deposited into the bank account of his maternal uncle, Chhatrasingh Parmar, while his mother and other members of their family did not receive any share.

The complaint further alleges that after the Gujarat High Court ordered the release of the second instalment of compensation, a consent deed dated July 19, 2024, was prepared on a ₹300 stamp paper in Surajben’s name, despite her having died nearly 18 months earlier. The document allegedly carried her photograph and thumb impression and was notarised as if she had personally appeared before the notary.

Police said the alleged forged consent deed was submitted before the Special Land Acquisition Officer in Raopura to facilitate the release of more than ₹2.62 crore in compensation, which was allegedly credited to Nathu Khushal Parmar’s Kotak Mahindra Bank account at the Raopura branch.

As per the FIR, Samantsinh allegedly certified that the thumb impression on the consent deed belonged to the complainant’s deceased mother, while Takhatsinh Parmar and Rajendra R. Parmar signed as witnesses. The notary has been accused of notarising the document despite the executant allegedly neither being alive nor present at the time.

The complainant alleged that all the accused acted in collusion to prepare forged documents and illegally obtain the compensation. Claiming to be a legal heir of the deceased, Padhiyar said neither he nor his family received their rightful share of the compensation.

Raopura police have registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and launched an investigation into the allegations. DeshGujarat
