Another GujCTOC Accused from Signal Phaliya Train Theft Gang Held

Ahmedabad: The Government Railway Police (GRP) has arrested another alleged member of the notorious Signal Phaliya gang of Godhra, accused of targeting passengers and stealing luggage from long-distance trains. The accused, who was wanted in a case registered under the Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GujCTOC) Act, was produced before a court in Vadodara on Tuesday and remanded to police custody till July 30 for further investigation.

According to the police, the GujCTOC case was registered at the Godhra Railway Police Station on October 10, 2025, against the Signal Phaliya gang, which is allegedly involved in a series of organised train thefts. The gang has been linked to more than 73 criminal cases.

Police have so far arrested 13 accused, including the alleged masterminds, Hassan alias Takkan Salim Sheikh (23) and Hussain Salim Sheikh (25), both residents of Signal Phaliya in Godhra.

The latest arrest is that of Ramjani Muhammad Yusuf Jabar (23), a resident of Signal Phaliya near Rehman Masjid in Godhra. He was apprehended by police on Monday and produced before the Diwalipura court on Tuesday, where police sought his custodial interrogation. The court granted police custody until July 30.

Police said the gang allegedly used a unique modus operandi to carry out the thefts. Members would open the pressure cock connecting two coaches of a train, causing the train to slow down automatically. They would then take advantage of the reduced speed to commit thefts by targeting passengers’ luggage before escaping.

Police said the accused will be questioned further as part of the ongoing investigation into the organised railway theft racket. DeshGujarat
