Six Foreign Students Nabbed in Vadodara; Two Booked for Drunk Driving and Beer Possession

Vadodara: Dabhoi police have booked two foreign students from Papua New Guinea studying at a private university. One student was caught driving a Thar allegedly in a drunken state and without a driving licence, while another student has been booked for possession of beer cans without a permit.

According to the police, information was received on the 112 emergency number that a red Mahindra Thar near Mahudi Bhagol was carrying foreign nationals and its driver was driving the vehicle in a drunken state. Based on the information, the Dabhoi police immediately reached the spot, stopped the Thar (MH-12-XQ-2417), and took the six foreign students in it to the police station for investigation.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the driver of the Thar was Georgeman John Atep (24), originally from Papua New Guinea and currently residing in the hostel of a private university in Waghodia. According to the police, his eyes were red, his breath smelled of alcohol, and he was staggering. Further investigation revealed that he did not have a driving licence. A case has been registered against him under the Motor Vehicles Act and related laws.

Meanwhile, while checking the belongings of the other students travelling in the vehicle in the presence of witnesses, police found beer cans without a permit in the bag of a student named Paul Paul Simon. The police seized and sealed the beer cans and registered a separate case against him under the Gujarat Prohibition Act.

A total of six foreign students, including Delilah Pora Rumintz, Frankie Nikki Chandover, Trevor Yaki Lee Daniel, and Samuel Punga Andrew, were on board the Thar. Police investigation has revealed that all the students were studying and residing in the hostel of a private university in Waghodia.

Based on the complaint of an employee of Dabhoi police station, the police have registered two separate cases and started further investigation. DeshGujarat
