5 Gates of Karjan Dam Opened; 43,110 Cusecs Released Into River, Riverside Villages Asked to Stay Alert

Vadodara: Authorities have opened five gates of the Karjan Dam at Jitgad village in Narmada district’s Nandod taluka to maintain the reservoir’s rule level, resulting in the release of 43,110 cusecs of water into the Karjan River.
The district administration has urged residents of villages along the river to stay away from riverbanks and avoid entering the flowing water, advising them to remain alert until the discharge is reduced.
As of 5 pm, the dam’s water level stood at 107.33 metres, just below the August 1 rule level of 107.55 metres. The dam’s Full Reservoir Level (FRL) is 115.25 metres.
The dam recorded an inflow of 72,626 cusecs and an outflow of 46,435 cusecs. Its gross storage was 336.26 million cubic metres (MCM), accounting for 62.42% of its designed gross storage capacity of 538.75 MCM. DeshGujarat
