AMC Integrates 160 Public Parking Locations in Ahmedabad with Google Maps

Ahmedabad: In a key digital initiative aimed at improving urban mobility, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has integrated around 160 public parking locations across the city with Google Maps, making it easier for residents and visitors to locate parking facilities.

The locations include public parking plots, smart parking facilities, multi-level parking buildings and on-street parking spaces that operate under both paid and free parking systems. The initiative has been implemented as part of the Digital India and Smart City Mission programmes.

With the integration, motorists can now search for these parking facilities on Google Maps and receive turn-by-turn navigation to the nearest available location. AMC said the move is expected to reduce unnecessary driving in search of parking, help ease traffic congestion caused by roadside parking, and improve overall traffic management.

The civic body said the new system will also save commuters time and fuel by allowing them to identify nearby parking options before reaching their destination.

In addition to Google Maps, detailed information about these parking locations is available through AMC’s AmdaPark mobile application. The app also enables users to make advance parking bookings and complete digital payments.

AMC has urged citizens to make use of the digital facility in their daily commute and contribute to making Ahmedabad a smarter and more traffic-efficient city. The corporation added that more locations are likely to be integrated with the system in the future based on public feedback. DeshGujarat
