Ahmedabad city gets upto 18 inches of rain in 24 hours; here’s ward-wise data

Ahmedabad: Ahmedabad city received extremely heavy rainfall during the last 24 hours. According to the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) rainfall data recorded at 6 am, the city received an average of 295.59 mm (11.64 inches) of rain during the period.

Area-wise, the highest rainfall was recorded in Bopal at 467.50 mm (18.41 inches), followed by Bakrol with 462.50 mm (18.21 inches), Sarkhej Urban Health at 440.00 mm (17.32 inches), Jodhpur at 418.00 mm (16.46 inches), Sarkhej at 415.00 mm (16.34 inches), Thaltej at 408.50 mm (16.08 inches), Jodhpur Zonal at 408.00 mm (16.06 inches), and Bodakdev at 407.00 mm (16.02 inches). All these areas recorded more than 16 inches of rainfall in just 24 hours.

Zone-wise, the South-West Zone received the highest average rainfall at 428.64 mm (16.88 inches). It was followed by the North-West Zone with 363.64 mm (14.32 inches), the Central Zone with 319.63 mm (12.58 inches), the West Zone with 315.43 mm (12.42 inches), the South Zone with 235.50 mm (9.27 inches), the North Zone with 232.90 mm (9.17 inches), and the East Zone with 173.38 mm (6.83 inches).

The total rainfall recorded across the city during the last 24 hours stood at 2,069.11 mm (81.46 inches). Meanwhile, all 22 gates of the Vasna Barrage remained open to facilitate the downstream flow of water in the Sabarmati River. DeshGujarat
