Ahmedabad Schools, Colleges to Remain Shut Again on July 25; Anganwadis Closed Till July 27

Ahmedabad: With the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in Ahmedabad, the Amdavad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has, as a precautionary measure, suspended academic activities in all government, grant-in-aid and private schools and colleges across the city on Saturday, July 25, 2026. In addition, all AMC-run Anganwadis will remain closed till July 27, 2026.

Notably, all educational institutions in the city remained closed on Friday as well after Ahmedabad received an average of over 11 inches of rainfall during the 24-hour period ending at 6 am.

The AMC said the decision has been taken in view of the IMD’s forecast and the prevailing rainfall situation to ensure the safety of students, parents and everyone associated with educational institutions. The civic body said the precautionary measure aims to prevent any inconvenience or risk arising from heavy rainfall.

The AMC has appealed to citizens, parents, students and educational institutions to take note of the advisory and exercise necessary caution. It has also urged people to avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rain, refrain from believing rumours, and rely only on information shared through official channels.

The civic body added that the rainfall situation is being continuously monitored and all necessary arrangements have been made to ensure the safety of citizens.
