Heavy Rain in Gujarat: Over 38,000 Relocated, 5,500+ Rescued; 49 NDRF-SDRF Teams Deployed

Ahmedabad: Heavy rainfall continued to lash parts of Gujarat on Friday, with North Gujarat witnessing intense showers over a short span. According to the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC) in Gandhinagar, several talukas recorded more than two inches of rainfall in the last two hours, while relief and rescue operations remain in full swing across the state.

Deodar taluka in the newly formed Vav-Tharad district received over 3 inches of rain during the two-hour period. More than 2 inches of rainfall was also recorded in Bhabhar (Vav-Tharad), Santalpur (Patan), Dhansura (Aravalli) and Lilia (Amreli), leading authorities to closely monitor the situation.

The state administration said that since the onset of the monsoon, 38,653 people have been shifted to safer locations as a precautionary measure, while 5,547 people have been successfully rescued from rain-affected areas.

To tackle any emergency, a total of 49 teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have been deployed across vulnerable districts. Additionally, six Indian Army teams, two each in Ahmedabad, Navsari and Valsad, have been stationed to assist civil authorities in rescue and relief operations.

The Air Force is also assisting with rescue operations in Vadodara. Meanwhile, Coast Guard teams are carrying out aerial surveys in Navsari, Valsad and Tapi districts to assess the flood situation. Coast Guard personnel are also engaged in rescuing people stranded in floodwaters in Bilimora and Gandevi.

The state government said all agencies remain on high alert as heavy rainfall continues in several parts of Gujarat, with coordinated rescue and relief efforts underway to ensure public safety. DeshGujarat
