IMD Issues Red Alert for Extremely Heavy Rain in Parts of Gujarat for Next 2 Days

Ahmedabad: An active monsoon spell is wreaking havoc across parts of Gujarat, with several districts receiving extremely heavy rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest bulletin, the intense rain spell is likely to continue over the next few days. The IMD has issued a red alert for extremely to exceptionally heavy rainfall in parts of the state for the next two days.

According to the IMD’s latest bulletin, Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Surendranagar, and Morbi are under a red alert, with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and isolated extremely to exceptionally heavy rainfall likely till 8:30 am on July 25.

Districts under an orange alert include Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat, Navsari, Valsad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Botad, and Kutch. A yellow alert has been issued for the remaining districts of the state.

On July 25, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Mahisagar, and Surendranagar will remain under a red alert. An orange alert has been issued for Banaskantha, Vav-Tharad, Patan, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Bharuch, Rajkot, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, and Botad. The remaining districts of Gujarat are under a yellow alert.

On July 26, Vav-Tharad, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, and Bhavnagar will be under an orange alert. A yellow alert has been issued for Patan, Gandhinagar, Aravalli, Kheda, Ahmedabad, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Valsad, Daman, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, as well as the Saurashtra districts of Amreli and Botad.

On July 27, Panchmahal and Dahod are the only two districts under an orange alert for very heavy rainfall. A yellow alert is in place for Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, and the Saurashtra districts of Amreli and Bhavnagar.

For July 28 and 29, the IMD has not issued any heavy rainfall warning. However, light to moderate rainfall is likely across most districts of Gujarat.

On July 30, heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places in Chhota Udepur, Narmada, and Tapi districts. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these districts. DeshGujarat
