NIA Chargesheets Gujarat Man in Online JeM, Al-Qaeda Radicalisation Case

Ahmedabad: A prime accused has been chargesheeted by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in a Gujarat online terror radicalisation case linked to proscribed terrorist outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) and Al-Qaeda (AQ), the law enforcement agency said.

Arrested accused Faijan has been chargesheeted before the NIA Special Court in Ahmedabad under relevant sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and the Arms Act. Investigations by the NIA, which took over the case from the Gujarat ATS in March 2026, revealed that the accused had conspired for the secession of Kashmir and Ladakh from India and was in touch with a Pakistan-based JeM operative in furtherance of the conspiracy. The Gujarat ATS had originally registered an FIR in the case following Faijan’s arrest based on reliable intelligence inputs.

The NIA investigation further disclosed that the accused had also planned to carry out targeted killings to spread communal tensions, with the aim of creating mayhem and disaffection against India. He had allegedly illegally procured a weapon along with six live cartridges from Uttar Pradesh without a valid licence for this purpose. The weapon was seized during the investigation.

On the directions of his online handler, Faijan had been radicalising and incentivising vulnerable youth to promote violent jihad and armed rebellion aimed at destroying the sovereignty, unity, and integrity of India. He was found to have uploaded incriminating videos promoting violence on his Instagram account, ‘al. Faijangaza’.

According to the NIA, during the course of the investigation, officials recovered various incriminating videos and photographs from his digital devices, eventually leading to the filing of charges against Faijan.

The investigation is continuing to identify others involved in the conspiracy, including the accused’s handler, the NIA added. DeshGujarat
