Ahmedabad: Widespread rainfall continued to lash Ahmedabad on Friday, with the city recording an average rainfall of 40.22 mm between 6 am and 7 pm, according to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC). Several areas witnessed moderate to heavy showers, leading to waterlogging at multiple locations across the city.

As per the ward-wise data, Asarwa recorded the highest rainfall at 70.5 mm, followed by Kalupur (61.5 mm), Memko (60 mm), Viratnagar (59 mm), Odhav (53.5 mm), Chakudiya (52.5 mm), Indrapuri (51.5 mm) and Maninagar (48.5 mm). Other areas, including Naroda, Nikol, Vastral, Chandkheda, Ranip, Bodakdev, Science City, Sarkhej and Bopal, also received steady rainfall during the day.

Among the zones, the Central Zone received the highest average rainfall at 55 mm, followed by the North Zone with 45 mm and the East Zone with 44.75 mm. The South Zone recorded an average of 39.38 mm, while the North West, West, and South West zones received 34.43 mm, 33.29 mm, and 29.71 mm, respectively.

Overall, the city recorded 281.55 mm of cumulative rainfall across AMC’s rain gauge network between 6 am and 7 pm, which was much less than the rainfall recorded yesterday. However, several areas continue to remain waterlogged, and due to the continued outflow from the Sabarmati River, all 22 gates of the Vasna Barrage remain open. DeshGujarat
