Anurag Kashyap Faces Fresh Summons from Surat Court in Brahmin Community Remarks Case

Surat: Film director Anurag Kashyap’s legal troubles have deepened after he was accused of making objectionable remarks about the Brahmin community on social media. A local court in Surat has issued another summons against him, directing him to appear before the court on September 23, 2026.
The complaint was filed by advocate Kamlesh Rawal on behalf of the Brahmin community. According to the complaint, a social media post made by Anurag Kashyap on March 19, 2025, hurt the sentiments of the Brahmin community. It further alleges that the post was an attempt to disturb peace and social harmony in the country.
Based on the complaint, the Surat court ordered the registration of a criminal case against Anurag Kashyap under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The court had earlier issued summons to him, but he failed to appear.
After he did not respond to the earlier summons, the court issued a fresh summons. It has directed Anurag Kashyap to appear before the court on September 23, 2026, in connection with the case registered under Sections 196, 352 and 353(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). DeshGujarat
