Gujarat-Based IndieSemiC Partners with US Chipmaker Semtech to Develop Sabarmati-1 IoT Semiconductor Platform
July 25, 2026
Gandhinagar: Gujarat-based fabless semiconductor startup IndieSemiC Private Limited has partnered with US-based Semtech Corporation to develop Sabarmati-1, a next-generation 64-bit RISC-V-based System-in-Package (SiP) integrated with LoRa technology for advanced Internet of Things (IoT) applications, a press release said.
The collaboration was announced in the presence of senior officials, including Amitesh Sinha, CEO of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology in New Delhi.
Under the partnership, IndieSemiC will develop the Sabarmati class of general-purpose 64-bit SiP platforms based on the RISC-V architecture, integrating Semtech’s LoRa (Long Range) wireless technology. The platform combines 64-bit processing with ultra-low-power, long-range connectivity and is aimed at enabling next-generation intelligent connected devices.
According to Nikul Shah, Founder of IndieSemiC, the Sabarmati platform will cater to a wide range of applications, including industrial automation, smart cities, asset tracking, smart lighting, smart metering, agriculture, logistics and healthcare. The platform is designed to support low-power wide-area networking (LPWAN), a key technology for modern IoT deployments.
Over the past few years, Gujarat has also attracted major investments across the semiconductor value chain, with three semiconductor manufacturing facilities entering commercial operations earlier this year. Officials believe the emergence of home-grown deep-tech startups such as IndieSemiC further strengthens Gujarat’s vision of building a complete semiconductor ecosystem spanning design, manufacturing, research and development, talent development**,** and the supporting supply chain.
Congratulating IndieSemiC on the collaboration, Neha Kumari, IAS, Mission Director of the Gujarat State Electronics Mission, reiterated the state’s commitment to supporting companies working towards building a globally competitive semiconductor ecosystem in Gujarat. DeshGujarat
