1930 Cybercrime Helpline Complaints to Auto-Generate e-Zero FIR in Gujarat

Gandhinagar: In a move aimed at speeding up action against cyber financial fraud, the Gujarat government has launched the e-Zero FIR system, allowing victims to initiate the legal process without visiting a police station.

Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi launched the new service in Gandhinagar on Monday. Under the system, complaints related to cyber financial fraud registered through the national cybercrime helpline 1930 will automatically generate an e-Zero FIR, which will then be electronically forwarded to the jurisdictional police station for further investigation.

The initiative has been introduced in coordination with the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs and is intended to reduce delays in registering cyber fraud cases.

Speaking at the launch, Sanghavi said the new system will enable victims to lodge complaints from their homes while allowing police to begin action quickly, increasing the chances of recovering the defrauded amount.

Director General of Police G.S. Malik has directed all field units to handle such complaints with urgency and ensure prompt action under the new mechanism.

Inspector General of Police Bipin Ahire, who heads the Cyber Centre of Excellence, said that once a complaint is received through the 1930 helpline, an e-Zero FIR will be generated automatically and sent to the concerned police station. Officers will then contact the complainant, complete the necessary legal formalities and immediately begin the investigation.

Officials also highlighted the first case registered under the new system. An Ahmedabad resident, who allegedly fell victim to a “digital arrest” cyber fraud, became the first beneficiary of the e-Zero FIR mechanism. Based on the complaint, the Cyber Crime Department acted swiftly and prevented a financial loss of more than ₹15.76 lakh. DeshGujarat
