July 27, 2026
Gandhinagar: Students whose textbooks have been soaked or damaged due to waterlogging in their homes or schools following the recent heavy rains will be provided with new textbooks free of cost by the Gujarat State School Textbook Board, the Gujarat government announced on Monday.
The initiative aims to ensure that the education of children from poor and middle-class families in rain-affected areas is not disrupted and that they can continue their studies without interruption.
Providing details, Gujarat State School Textbook Board Chairman Manubhai Pawar said the scheme will cover all students studying in government and grant-in-aid schools located in areas affected by heavy rainfall. District Education Officers (DEOs) and District Primary Education Officers (DPEOs) have been directed to assess the number of textbooks damaged due to the rains and submit the details to the Textbook Board at the earliest.
The Board said it has made special arrangements to ensure that free replacement textbooks are dispatched to the affected schools immediately after receiving the demand from the district authorities.
Pawar also appealed to parents and students in rain-affected areas not to worry about damaged textbooks. He said students whose books have been damaged should immediately contact their respective schools or the District Education Officer to obtain replacement copies. DeshGujarat
