Southwest monsoon officially withdraws from entire Gujarat on October 3

Gandhinagar: The southwest monsoon has officially withdrawn from Gujarat on Saturday, October 3, marking the end of the 2026 monsoon season in the State, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Earlier, the IMD had said that conditions are favourable for the further withdrawal of the southwest monsoon from Gujarat. The monsoon is currently weak, with rainfall distribution reported as isolated and very light over the region.

IMD in its latest bulletin on 3rd October stated: Due to decrease in the rainfall activity, cloudiness and Relative Humidity during past 2 days, absence of south-west monsoon and prevalence of dry northerly winds over the region in association with the anticyclonic circulation over north Gujarat region & adjoining southwest Rajasthan at lower tropospheric levels, the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from remaining parts of North India, the entire Gujarat & Madhya Pradesh and some parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra. Conditions are likely to become favourable for further withdrawal of southwest monsoon from most parts of Marathwada & Vidarbha, some more parts of Maharashtra & Chhattisgarh and some parts of Telangana & North interior Karnataka during next 2-3 days.

There’s no forecast of rainfall for next seven days.

Gujarat has received 89.19% rainfall at the end of the South West Monsoon 2026. It is 810.64 mm. Barring South Gujarat which witnessed 114.23 mm rainfall, all other regions of the State have experienced shortfall. Kutch had 57.60% rainfall of 10 years average, followed by North Gujarat at 71.04$, Saurashtra 71.43%, East Central Gujarat 71.04% rain.

With withdrawal of rains, any fresh rain can take place as unseasonal rain due to cyclonic circulation or impact from Bay of Bengal. DeshGujarat
