Mumbai-Gujarat Train Services Affected After Virar–Bharuch MEMU Derails at Bhilad Station

Ahmedabad: Train services on the busy Mumbai-Gujarat section of Western Railway were disrupted on Tuesday morning after four wheels of a Mainline Electric Multiple Unit (MEMU) train derailed while entering Bhilad Railway Station in Gujarat.

According to Western Railway officials, the incident occurred at around 6:27 am when Train No. 19101 Virar–Bharuch MEMU was arriving at Platform No. 1. Four wheels of the train’s front Driving Motor Coach (DMC) came off the tracks during the movement.

Railway authorities said no passengers or railway staff were injured in the incident. The Accident Relief Train (ART) and Accident Relief Medical Equipment (ARME) were rushed to the site, and restoration work was immediately taken up.

Officials said efforts were underway to restore normal train operations at the earliest. The exact cause of the derailment will be determined after a detailed inquiry.

Meanwhile, train movements on the section were regulated as engineering teams carried out re-railing work and inspected the tracks, leading to delays for several MEMU and long-distance trains operating on the busy Mumbai-Gujarat corridor.

As per the railways, the following trains, commencing their journey on 28.07.2026, are running more than three hours late:

🔹 22196 Bandra Terminus – Virangana Lakshmibai Jhansi Express

🔹 20901 Mumbai Central – Gandhinagar Capital Vande Bharat Express

🔹 12009 Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express

🔹 22953 Mumbai Central – Ahmedabad Gujarat Superfast Express

🔹 12935 Bandra Terminus – Surat Intercity Express

Train No. 19101 Virar–Bharuch MEMU, dated 28.07.2026, has been short-terminated at Bhilad, and its journey between Bhilad and Bharuch has been cancelled.

The following trains have been rescheduled on 28.07.2026:

🔹 19015 Dadar–Porbandar – 10:30 hrs

🔹 09055 Bandra Terminus–Udhna – 10:00 hrs

🔹 59045 Mumbai Central–Vapi – 10:55 hrs

🔹 09001 Mumbai Central–Bhiwani – 11:30 hrs
