Surat Schools, Colleges, ITIs and Anganwadis Shut on July 31 Over Heavy Rain Warning

Surat: In view of the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) forecast of heavy rainfall in Surat district, the district administration has declared a holiday for all educational institutions on Friday, July 31, 2026, as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of students.
According to instructions issued by the district authorities, all primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, anganwadis, colleges and Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the Surat Municipal Corporation area, municipalities and rural parts of the district will remain closed.
The circular issued by the District Primary Education Officer states that the decision has been taken to prioritise students’ safety in view of the heavy rain forecast. The holiday will apply not only to students but also to all teaching and non-teaching staff.
The circular further states that the academic work lost due to the holidays declared earlier, including July 31, will be compensated later. Schools will make up the missed classes by scheduling them on local holidays or other designated non-teaching days.
