Vadodara Schools, Colleges to Remain Closed on July 31 as IMD Issues Red Alert

Vadodara: The District Magistrate has ordered the closure of educational activities in Anganwadis, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, ITIs, and colleges across all talukas of the district on Friday, July 31, following a red alert issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) for heavy to very heavy rainfall in Vadodara district.

District Magistrate Anil Dhamelia issued the notification under the powers vested in him under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023. The order will remain in force across the entire Vadodara district, including urban areas.

The notification states that, in view of the IMD’s forecast of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the district, the decision has been taken to ensure the safety of students and citizens and to prevent any untoward incidents.

The district administration has clarified that legal action will be taken against anyone violating the order under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Police officers of the rank of Head Constable and above serving in Vadodara district have been authorized to register complaints against violators.

The administration has appealed to people to follow official instructions and avoid unnecessary travel in view of the prevailing weather conditions. DeshGujarat
