Surat Collector Orders Two-Day Factory Shutdown, Cancels Govt Staff Leave Amid Heavy Rain

Surat: The district administration has gone into alert mode as the Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rainfall in Surat district. Keeping in mind the possibility of flash floods and other disaster-like situations, District Collector Tejas Parmar has announced important decisions.

As per the order issued by the Collector, all factories in Surat district have been directed to remain closed on July 31 and August 1, 2026. This decision has been taken based on the IMD’s forecast of heavy rainfall and the instructions issued during the high-level meeting of the Revenue Department.

In addition, the leaves of all government officers and employees in Surat district have been cancelled with immediate effect. All officers and employees have been instructed to remain present at their headquarters and perform the necessary duties.

The district administration said this decision has been taken in view of the possibility of heavy rainfall, floods and other disaster-like situations, and to ensure the effective implementation of relief and rescue operations.
