Vadodara Schools, Colleges to Remain Shut for 2nd Consecutive Day on Aug 1

Vadodara: The district administration has decided to keep schools and colleges closed for the second consecutive day on Saturday. District Collector and District Magistrate Anil Dhamelia has issued a notification ordering the closure of educational activities in all educational institutions across the district on August 1.

According to the notification, all Anganwadis, primary, secondary and higher secondary schools, ITIs, and colleges in both urban and rural areas of Vadodara district will remain closed. The Collector said the decision has been taken keeping in mind the safety of students and the situation that may arise due to heavy rainfall.

It is worth mentioning that on Friday (July 31) too, a holiday was declared for all schools and colleges in the district following the forecast of heavy rain. With educational institutions set to remain closed on Saturday as well, students in Vadodara will get a holiday for the second consecutive day.

Rain began lashing Vadodara city early on Friday morning. About 2 inches of rainfall was recorded between 6 am and 8 am, leading to waterlogging in several parts of the city. Water accumulated in the underpass near Alkapuri railway station, causing some vehicles to stall, while power supply was also disrupted in a few areas.

Rain was reported from several parts of the city, including Raopura, Fatehganj, Ajwa Road, Waghodia Road, Karelibaug, Subhanpura, Sayajiganj, Panigate, Mandvi, Harni, Manjalpur, Sama, and Bhayli. Rainy conditions also prevailed across several talukas of the district.

The district administration has appealed to residents to avoid venturing out unless necessary. The notification states that legal action will be taken against anyone violating the order under the relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). DeshGujarat
