Gujarat Gets New Customs Facility at Umarwada, Ankleshwar
August 02, 2026
New Delhi / Gandhinagar: The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has notified Umarwada in Ankleshwar, Bharuch district of Gujarat, as a new place for customs operations.
Through Notification No. 67/2026-Customs (N.T.) dated July 31, 2026, published in the Gazette of India Extraordinary, the Board has amended the principal notification of 1997 to include the new location.
The notification inserts the following entry against serial number 4 relating to the State of Gujarat:
Umarwada, Ankleshwar, Bharuch – Unloading of imported goods and the loading of export goods or any class of such goods.
The move is expected to facilitate smoother cargo handling for industries in the Ankleshwar-Bharuch belt, a major industrial hub in South Gujarat. By allowing both unloading of imported goods and loading of export consignments at Umarwada, the facility will reduce logistics costs and transit time for manufacturers and exporters operating in the region.
The notification will enable better customs clearance infrastructure closer to industrial clusters in Bharuch district, supporting Gujarat’s push for efficient trade logistics. DeshGujarat
