Surat Female Influencer Booked Under Gujarat Land Grabbing Act, Taken Into Custody from Lajpore Central Jail

Surat: The legal troubles of Surat-based social media influencer Kirti Patel have increased after she was booked under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act in connection with an alleged property encroachment case. The Pune Police Station team took her into custody from Lajpore Central Jail, where she is already lodged in connection with other criminal cases, for further investigation.

According to the complaint filed by property owner Kirtibhai Ishwardas Patel, the dispute relates to a residential property that has been under the possession of Kirti Patel since 2019. The complainant alleged that despite repeated requests over the years, he has not been able to regain possession of his house.

The complaint states that the house was rented to Kirti Patel through a broker after she allegedly informed the landlord that she would be residing there along with her brother and sister-in-law. The complainant further alleged that the required documentation for the tenancy agreement was not completed.

According to the complaint, disputes arose after she moved into the property, following which the landlord asked her to vacate the house. However, the complainant alleged that Kirti Patel continued to occupy the property, assuring him on multiple occasions that she would vacate it after finding another house.

The complainant has further alleged that despite repeated requests and discussions, including at the police station, possession of the property was not returned. He also claimed that no rent has been paid since 2019 and alleged that the protections available to tenants during the COVID-19 period were used to continue occupying the property.

Based on the complaint, Pune Police Station registered an offence under the Gujarat Land Grabbing (Prohibition) Act. Police officials took Kirti Patel into custody from Lajpore Central Jail and are expected to produce her before a court to seek her remand for further investigation in the case.

Kirti Patel was arrested on July 30 in connection with other criminal cases and remains in judicial custody. Police are also investigating other cases registered against her, and further legal proceedings will be carried out in accordance with the law.
