ACB Gujarat Nabs MGNREGA Muster Clerk in Bribery Case

Sabarkantha: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday caught an MGNREGA Muster Clerk (Mate) red-handed while allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹15,000.

According to the ACB, the accused has been identified as Ramesh Chandra Manilal Pandya, who was serving as a Muster Clerk (Mate) in the MGNREGA department of Auda Gram Panchayat under Idar Taluka Panchayat.

As per the complaint, the complainant’s wife had been sanctioned housing assistance under the Deendayal Upadhyay Awas Yojana. After the first instalment of ₹30,000 was credited to the complainant’s bank account, the accused allegedly called and demanded ₹15,000 as a bribe. He also allegedly offered to extend benefits under the MGNREGA scheme.

Unwilling to pay the bribe, the complainant approached the ACB, which laid a trap on Friday. During the operation, the accused allegedly repeated his demand and, after a brief conversation with the complainant, accepted ₹15,000. The ACB team then caught him red-handed at a parlour near Deshtar Char Rasta in Idar. The entire bribe amount of ₹15,000 was recovered from his possession. DeshGujarat
