Saputara Monsoon Festival 2026 Kicks Off; To Continue Till Aug 29

Saputara: The Saputara Monsoon Festival 2026, celebrating Gujarat’s natural beauty and tribal culture, was inaugurated on Saturday by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi. The festival will continue till August 29, offering visitors a mix of cultural programmes, adventure activities, local cuisine and nature-based experiences.

The festival features an ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’-themed parade, musical and cultural performances, tribal art and craft workshops, nature trails, adventure activities, rain dance, selfie points and local food experiences.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Sanghvi said Saputara is not only Gujarat’s hill station but also represents the rich tribal culture and natural diversity of the Dang district. He said the monsoon enhances the region’s natural beauty and attracts tourists from across the country.

Sanghvi highlighted the festival’s contribution to the local economy, saying tourism benefits hotels, taxi operators, guides, women’s self-help groups, artisans, farmers and small traders. He said the festival also provides a platform for local artists and artisans to showcase their talent.

According to Sanghvi, around 2.61 lakh tourists visited Saputara during the 2025 Monsoon Festival. More than 1.43 lakh visitors used boating facilities, while around 290 stalls selling local handicrafts and traditional products generated approximately ₹1.57 crore in sales.

Tourism Minister Jairam Gamit said the Saputara Monsoon Festival, launched in 2009, has become an important platform for promoting Dang’s tribal culture, folk art and handicrafts.

Gamit said around 14.67 lakh tourists visited Saputara in 2025, reflecting the destination’s growing popularity. He also highlighted the Gujarat government’s provision of ₹3,090 crore under Gujarat Tourism Year for the development of tourism, pilgrimage sites and civil aviation.

Following the inauguration, a cultural programme featured 110 artists from 13 states, who performed dances based on National Award-winning choreography. Local artists also presented traditional Dangi dance performances.
