Gujarat ACB book 3 including two Policemen in Bribe case; Middleman nabbed

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday, August 9, 2026, booked three persons, including two Class-3 police personnel posted at Kalol Police Station, in a bribery case involving ₹15,000. One middleman is nabbed by ACB in this case.

The accused have been identified as Ashish Katara, a Class-3 police employee at Kalol Police Station; Jashpal Singh Yashwant Singh Parmar, also a Class-3 police employee at Kalol Police Station; and Dharmendra Singh alias Nonbhai Kanaksinh Rathod, a resident of Sansoli village in Kalol taluka of Panchmahal district.

According to the ACB, the case originated on July 23, when a friend of the complainant was allegedly caught in an online gambling case. The two police personnel allegedly contacted the complainant and demanded ₹20,000 to settle the matter. Following discussions, the amount was allegedly reduced to ₹15,000.

The complainant did not want to pay the bribe and subsequently contacted the ACB toll-free helpline 1064. A complaint was then registered at the Dahod ACB Police Station.

Based on the complaint, the ACB laid a trap on August 9 at Naranpura Narmada Canal Chowkdi in Naranpura village of Kalol taluka.

During the trap, Dharmendra Singh allegedly accepted ₹15,000 from the complainant and was caught by the ACB team. The entire demanded amount of ₹15,000 was recovered.

The ACB stated that conversations between the accused and the complainant, as well as communication between the accused persons over the mobile phone, formed part of the trap proceedings.
