Sabarmati–Jammu Tavi Train Extension to Katra: Railway Board Works Out Timings

Ahmedabad: The proposed extension of train no. 19223/19224 from Sabarmati to Jammu Tavi to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra (SMVD Katra) has moved forward with the Railway Board working out timings following discussions held on July 30, 2026.
According to the proposed schedule, train no. 19223, currently operating between Sabarmati and Jammu Tawi, will be extended up to SMVD Katra. The train will depart Sabarmati at 10:25 and is proposed to reach SMVD Katra at 18:55.
On the return journey, the extended service is proposed to depart SMVD Katra at 4:50 and arrive at Sabarmati at 14:05. The train will continue to operate daily.
Under the proposed schedule, train 19223 will arrive at Palanpur at 13:20 and depart at 13:22, while the proposed timings at Jammu Tawi are 15:30 and 15:35. The service will also have a halt at SMVD Katra.
The return service will have a proposed halt at Jammu Tawi from 7:35 to 7:40 and at Palanpur from 10:55 to 10:57.
New halt proposed
The Railway Board document also proposes an additional stoppage at Martyr Captain Tushar Mahajan station as part of the extension.
No additional rake is proposed for the extension, with the existing rake link to be used.
Changes to other trains
The extension will also result in changes to the timings of several other trains. These include:
- Train 22478 SVDK–NDLS: departure from SVDK proposed at 5:40 instead of 5:45.
- Train 14605 YNRK–SVDK: halt at Jammu Tawi reduced to five minutes, with arrival at SVDK proposed at 4:55 instead of 5:05.
- Train 15656 SVDK–KYQ/14612 SVDK–GCT: departure from SVDK proposed at 3:40 instead of 3:50.
- Train 22401 DEE–MCTM AC Express: arrival at MCTM proposed at 9:40 instead of 8:40.
- Train 74909 PTK–MCTM DEMU: revised timings proposed at Jammu Tawi and MCTM.
- Train 16031 MAS–SVDK and other linked services may also see revised timings, with SVDK arrival proposed at 11:50 instead of 10:45.
- Train 74906 MCTM–PTK: departure from MCTM will be revised from the existing 7:35.
The timings mentioned in the Railway Board document are tentative and have been worked out in consultation with the concerned railways.
