Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s (AMC) North-West Zone estate department, along with the Ahmedabad city police’s ‘M’ Division traffic department, conducted a night-time drive against encroachments and traffic obstructions in Bodakdev and Thaltej wards and along Sindhu Bhavan Road.
During the drive, action was taken against street vendors operating from vehicles parked along Sindhu Bhavan Road. Officials clamped 15 vehicles and collected ₹23,500 in administrative penalties. The team also seized 13 miscellaneous items found obstructing traffic.
According to AMC officials, some vendors were found causing disruptions to traffic movement and public order. Officials said a few individuals allegedly behaved rudely with the AMC team and attempted to obstruct the civic staff while the vehicles were being clamped.
The team continued the operation and took action as per the law.
The AMC said it will continue to take strict action against illegal encroachments on public roads, traffic obstructions and attempts to interfere with official duties. Similar night-time drives will be conducted regularly on Sindhu Bhavan Road and in other parts of the city, the civic body said.
