Ahmedabad PG Rape Case: Security Agency Operator Held Over Licence, Verification Lapses

Ahmedabad: Anandnagar Police have registered an FIR against A-One Security Agency and its manager, Ramprakash Tiwari, following the alleged rape of a PG resident by a security guard employed by the agency in the Jodhpur area of the city. The investigation found that the agency’s licence had expired on April 5, 2026, while the accused guard had allegedly not undergone mandatory security training or police verification before being employed.

Police said Tiwari allegedly continued to operate the security agency without renewing its licence and hired Dharam Singh Ramshankar Singh Rathod without completing the required procedures. Anandnagar Police have arrested Tiwari and are conducting further investigation into the agency’s role and the alleged lapses in hiring the accused.

The action against the security agency follows the alleged rape of a woman staying in a PG in the Jodhpur area on the night of August 8. According to police, the victim was on the terrace of her building between 9 pm and 10.30 pm when Rathod allegedly approached her, strangled her with a wire and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.

After regaining consciousness, the woman raised an alarm, following which local residents alerted the police. Ahmedabad Police formed multiple teams and arrested Rathod from Hebatpur within hours of the incident. His medical examination was conducted and a DNA sample was collected as part of the investigation.

Police said the accused had allegedly also taken the victim’s mobile phone. A police team later took Rathod to Hebatpur to recover the phone. During the recovery proceedings, he allegedly attempted to escape and tried to snatch the service pistol of Police Inspector R.S. Parmar, leading to a scuffle.

During the confrontation, police constable Virendra Singh was injured. Police fired two rounds while attempting to stop Rathod, with one bullet hitting him in the leg. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for treatment. DCP Shivam Verma said the injured constable’s condition was stable.

A separate case has also been registered against Rathod in connection with the alleged attempt to escape and attack the police. According to DCP Shivam Verma, the case was registered at Bodakdev Police Station.

Rathod, a resident of Hardoi district in Uttar Pradesh, remains under investigation in connection with the rape case and the subsequent incident involving the police. DeshGujarat
