‘Glass Piece Found in Student’s Snack’; Ahmedabad DEO Serves Notice to Anand Niketan School

Ahmedabad: The education department has taken immediate action after a piece of glass was allegedly found in a snack served to a student at Anand Niketan School on Bopal-Shilaj Road in Ahmedabad.

Following strong representations and protests by parents, the Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) has issued a show-cause notice to the school management and sought a detailed explanation regarding the incident.

In the notice, the DEO has sought complete details of the agency responsible for supplying snacks to the school. The school has also been asked to explain whether proper food safety and quality checks are carried out before the snacks are served to students.

The education department has warned that if the school fails to provide a satisfactory explanation within the stipulated time, strict action will be taken against the management under the relevant provisions.

The incident triggered anger among parents, several of whom gathered at the school premises and raised questions over the safety and quality of food being served to students.

As the situation escalated, local police personnel also reached the school to manage the situation. Parents alleged that despite the incident, the school administration did not show them the piece of glass reportedly found in the snack.

Parents who gathered at the school also alleged that the principal was absent despite the seriousness of the incident.

They further alleged that school prayers have not been held for around a month and that the national anthem is also not being sung at the school.
