August 12, 2026
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) recorded its highest-ever working-day ridership and its highest single-day revenue in more than a decade on Monday, with 6.31 lakh passengers travelling on its buses and generating nearly ₹39.8 lakh in revenue.
According to AMTS data released on Tuesday, 6,31,761 passengers used the service on August 10, the highest working-day ridership recorded by the civic transport undertaking. A total of 970 AMTS buses were in operation, generating ₹39,77,935 in revenue, the highest single-day collection recorded by AMTS so far.
Officials attributed the rise to increased use of public transport and said efforts were being made to further strengthen the city’s bus network. AMTS has also issued work orders for 1,150 new electric AC buses, which are expected to operate across Ahmedabad and the surrounding AUDA areas to improve connectivity and commuter convenience.
