Fire Breaks Out at ONGC Plant on Kalol-Mansa Highway in Gandhinagar

Gandhinagar: A fire broke out at an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant on the Kalol-Mansa Highway in Gandhinagar early Thursday morning, August 13.

Flames and thick plumes of black smoke were seen rising from the plant, which houses flammable materials. Soon after the incident was reported, fire teams from Kalol and Gandhinagar rushed to the spot and launched firefighting operations.

Firefighters used water and foam to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the plant. As a precautionary measure, the surrounding area was evacuated, while traffic on the Kalol-Mansa Highway was diverted for some time.

No casualties have been reported in the incident so far. Senior ONGC officials and local police also reached the site after receiving information about the fire.

The exact cause of the blaze is yet to be determined. A short circuit or gas leakage is suspected to have triggered the fire, though officials have not confirmed the cause.
