Holy Month of Shravan Begins in Gujarat for Year 2026; Gujarati Hindu Year 2082

Gandhinagar: The auspicious month of Shravan, as per the Gujarati Hindu Vikram Samvat calendar 2082, begins today, i.e., August 13, and will conclude on Friday, September 11, 2026. The month will witness several important religious festivals, including Nag Panchami, Randhan Chhath, Shitala Satam, Janmashtami, Nariyeli Poonam and Raksha Bandhan. Independence Day will also fall during the month.

Shravan is considered a holy month dedicated to bhakti, puja and the worship of Hindu deities. Mondays during Shravan are particularly significant, with devotees visiting Shiva temples in large numbers and offering milk, bilva leaves and other items to the Shivling. Many devotees also observe fasts during the month.

The four Shravan Somvars (Mondays) will fall on August 17, August 24, August 31 and September 7.

Independence Day will be observed on August 15, which falls on Shravan Sud Trij.

Nag Panchami will be celebrated on August 17, followed by Randhan Chhath on August 18 and Shitala Satam on August 19.

Nariyeli Poonam will be observed on August 27, while Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 28.

Shri Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on September 4, followed by Nand Mahotsav on September 5.

The Shravan month will conclude with Shravan Vad Amas on September 11, after which the Gujarati calendar will enter the month of Bhadarvo on September 12.

The festive and religious calendar will continue into Bhadarvo, with Paryushan beginning on September 8 and September 9 for different Jain traditions. Ganesh Chaturthi and Anant Chaturdashi (Ganesh Visarjan) will be observed on September 14 and September 25, respectively, followed by Samvatsari on September 26.
