DEO Issues Notice to Ahmedabad School Over Principals’ Other Roles

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad District Education Officer (DEO) has sought an explanation from SS Divine School on Sola-Science City Road following allegations that two of its principals are also holding positions at Swaminarayan University in Kalol.

The action followed a representation by the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) to Ahmedabad West DEO Rohit Chaudhary, along with documents supporting the allegations. The DEO has issued a show-cause notice to the school management, seeking a written response.

According to the notice, Pradeep Verma, principal of the school’s Gujarati-medium section, is also serving as a dean at Swaminarayan University. Sonu Rao, principal of the English-medium section, has allegedly been working as an assistant professor at the same university.

The DEO has questioned how the two individuals could hold key, full-time positions as school principals while simultaneously working at another higher education institution. The department has also sought clarification on their appointments and roles at both institutions.

The school management has been directed to submit an immediate written explanation along with supporting documentary evidence. DeshGujarat
