North Gujarat to Get Sujalam Sufalam Irrigation Water From August 20
August 19, 2026
Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has decided to release irrigation water under the Sujalam Sufalam Yojana for farmers in North Gujarat from August 20, following concerns over delayed rainfall and the risk of damage to standing crops.
Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, who is currently on a visit to the United States, directed the Irrigation Department to make the necessary arrangements after Gujarat Legislative Assembly Speaker Shankarbhai Chaudhary and Agriculture Minister Jitubhai Vaghani drew his attention to the situation faced by farmers in North Gujarat.
Chaudhary and Vaghani reportedly made a presentation to the Chief Minister about the delayed rains and requested the immediate release of irrigation water under the Sujalam Sufalam Yojana to protect standing crops.
Despite being abroad, Patel took prompt note of the situation and assured them that adequate water would be made available to farmers. He subsequently instructed senior officials of the Irrigation Department to take immediate action.
Following the Chief Minister’s directions, irrigation water will be released in North Gujarat from August 20 under the Sujalam Sufalam Yojana.
The decision is expected to provide relief to farmers whose standing crops are at risk of damage due to the delay in rainfall. Timely availability of irrigation water is also expected to help prevent crop losses and the resulting financial burden on farmers.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of farmers across North Gujarat, particularly those dependent on timely irrigation for their standing crops. DeshGujarat
