Illegal Encroachment by Asaram Ashram Razed in Navsari

Navsari: The Navsari district administration on Wednesday carried out a demolition drive against alleged encroachments on government land, razing an unauthorised ashram associated with Asaram Bapu in Onjal (Machhiwad) village of Jalalpore taluka.

The action was carried out under the direction of Navsari District Collector Manish Gurwani. Mamlatdar Mrinaldan Ishrani and his team began the operation in the morning and demolished the structure built on government land identified under old Survey No. 858/1 and new Survey No. 2.

The administration also removed sheds, wire fencing and block paving that had allegedly been constructed on the government land. Officials said approximately 6,000 square metres of government land was cleared during the drive.

The operation was carried out as part of the district administration’s ongoing action against alleged encroachments on government land. A team comprising officials from the Jalalpore Mamlatdar’s office, Circle Officer, Talati-cum-Mantri of Onjal, the village sarpanch and a large police contingent was deployed for the demolition.

Encroachment removed earlier

According to officials, the administration had previously removed the alleged encroachment by the ashram under Section 61 of the Gujarat Land Revenue Code. However, the encroachment was allegedly re-established after wire fencing was put up around the government land.

Officials said block paving and temporary sheds were subsequently constructed on the site, leading to the latest action by the district administration.

The administration has indicated that similar action will be taken against other unauthorised constructions and encroachments on government land in the area. DeshGujarat
