NIA Searches in Gujarat, Other States in Cyber Terror Case Over DDoS Attacks on Govt Websites

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Monday conducted searches at five locations in Junnar in Pune district of Maharashtra, Nadiad in Kheda district of Gujarat, Ramagundam in Karimnagar district of Telangana, Gopalganj in Bihar and Delhi in connection with its ongoing investigation into the Cyber Terrorism Case busted by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad in 2025.
The case, registered on June 25, 2025, relates to attempted sophisticated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks targeting 54 websites of Government of India entities during Operation Sindoor.
According to the NIA, the attacks targeted critical computer resources and Critical Information Infrastructure (CII), allegedly with the intention of compromising national sovereignty, security and unity and inciting public fear. Two accused have already been arrested in the case.
The case was originally registered by the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS). During the investigation, technical analysis helped identify suspects who allegedly provided support and assistance to the arrested accused in preparing for and enhancing their skills to carry out the DDoS attacks.
Searches were conducted at the premises of these suspects on Monday morning after search warrants were issued by the competent court.
During the searches, the NIA seized digital devices and documents containing incriminating material allegedly linked to hacking activities. The suspects were also examined regarding their association with the arrested accused.
A total of three laptops, five mobile phones and other digital devices, including pen drives, were seized following due procedure.
