Gujarat Govt Increases Agri Power Supply to 10 Hours in Seven Districts

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government has decided to increase the daily electricity supply for agricultural purposes from eight hours to 10 hours in seven districts of the state, taking into account local geographical conditions and the requirements of farmers.

Gujarat Government spokesperson and Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said farmers across the state are currently being provided with eight hours of regular and quality power supply every day to ensure uninterrupted irrigation.

However, considering local conditions and the additional requirements for crops and water, the government has taken an immediate decision to provide 10 hours of electricity per day in Amreli, Kutch, Jamnagar, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Porbandar and Junagadh districts.

Vaghani said the decision is not restricted to these seven districts. If farmers in any other district require additional electricity for irrigation, the state government is prepared to extend the 10-hour power supply there as well.

The move is aimed at ensuring that farmers have adequate electricity for irrigation and that agricultural activities are not affected due to a shortage of power supply. DeshGujarat
