Gujarat Govt to Release Kadana Dam Water for Irrigation in Anand, Kheda

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat Government has stepped up efforts to ensure irrigation and drinking water supply amid concerns over the availability of water for standing crops. Addressing a press conference, Gujarat Government spokesperson and Minister Jitubhai Vaghani said work is being carried out at full speed to supply water to lakes and dams connected to the Narmada-based pipeline network in Saurashtra and North Gujarat under the Sauni Yojana and Sujalam Sufalam Yojana.

Vaghani announsed that government has decided to continue the water supply to protect standing crops and prevent them from drying up. He said drinking water is being regularly supplied to Pariej and Kanewal lakes for the convenience of people in the Mahi Command area.

Keeping the interests of farmers in mind, the government has also decided to release irrigation water from the Kadana Dam to protect standing crops in Anand and Kheda districts.

Vaghani said the state government has always stood firmly with farmers and is committed to ensuring that there are no problems related to irrigation or drinking water.

He added that through proper water management, water would be supplied to even the farthest areas and agricultural fields of the state, helping protect standing crops from potential economic losses. DeshGujarat
