Surat Set for Tallest Building as 40-Storey Tower Gets Govt Approval

Surat: Diamond City’s skyline is set for a major change, with the state government’s Special Technical Committee (STC) approving a 142.99-metre multi-storey commercial building near Pal RTO. Once completed, the 40-storey Vasupujya Rio Crest is expected to become the tallest building in the city.

The project, being developed by Vasupujya Developer Group, will surpass the two existing structures in Surat that stand more than 100 metres tall.

Under the guidelines for tall buildings, the project has been allowed a maximum Floor Space Index (FSI) of 5.40. The Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) will receive ₹30.56 crore as an additional infrastructure charge from the project.

The 142.99-metre iconic commercial tower is planned on Final Plot No. 144 of TP Scheme No. 14 (Pal) in the West (Rander) Zone. Buildings exceeding 100 metres in height require approval from the state government’s Special Technical Committee (STC).

The proposal was initially submitted to the STC on June 17. It was later revised in accordance with the committee’s requirements and resubmitted for final approval.

The STC is headed by the Principal Secretary of Urban Development and Urban Housing and comprises experts in structural engineering, soil mechanics, fire services and other specialised fields. DeshGujarat
