Navsari Police Book Instagram User Over Fake News Post About Gujarat Dy CM Sanghvi

Navsari: Navsari Cyber Crime Police have registered a case over an allegedly fake Instagram post that used the photograph of Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghvi and circulated false statements attributed to him, allegedly with an intention to damage his reputation.

The case was registered after a suspicious post was noticed on August 26 on the Instagram account ‘katha_vistar’, identified as Katha Vistar Valsad, Navsari. The post was being circulated in the form of a news item and carried claims about liquor sales, action against sarpanches and the suspension of elected representatives.

According to the police, the post used Sanghvi’s photograph and presented the statements as if they had been made by the Deputy Chief Minister. Police said the content was false and appeared to have been created and circulated with the intention of creating a misleading impression about Sanghvi and harming his public image.

The suspicious content came to the notice of Navsari Cyber Crime Constable Sahadev Chaudhary, who was monitoring social media platforms as part of routine surveillance on the instructions of senior officers.

Following verification, the Cyber Crime Police registered a case against the person responsible for the Instagram account and the circulation of the allegedly fabricated content. The exact identity of the person behind the account is yet to be established.

Navsari Cyber Crime Police are currently investigating the matter and are working to trace the person responsible for creating and circulating the post. DeshGujarat
