No Heavy Rain for Gujarat in Sight for Another Week; IMD Forecasts Light Showers
August 29, 2026
Ahmedabad: The whole week went by, but Gujarat did not see any significant spell of heavy rainfall. Only light showers were recorded at a few places across the state. Now, the latest forecast from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicates that similar weather conditions are likely to continue over the coming week.
According to the IMD’s weather bulletin issued at noon on August 29, rainfall was recorded at a few places in the South Gujarat region during the past 24 hours, while North Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch remained largely dry.
As per the IMD bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are likely at a few and isolated places across all districts of Gujarat and the Union Territories of Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli over the next seven days, until September 4.
The IMD has not issued any weather warning for Gujarat, Daman and Diu, or Dadra and Nagar Haveli for the next seven days. The outlook for September 5 to 7 also indicates no major change in the weather pattern.
The weather department said a low-pressure area has formed over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining areas of West Bengal and the north Odisha coast. The system is likely to become more marked and move west-northwestwards across north Odisha and Gangetic West Bengal over the next 48 hours. A cyclonic circulation over northeast Uttar Pradesh and adjoining areas is also persisting.
For Ahmedabad and neighbouring areas, the IMD has forecast a generally cloudy sky with the possibility of light rain until the morning of August 30. No thunderstorm or heavy rainfall warning has been issued for the city. DeshGujarat
