SMC Seals La-Pino’z Outlet After Worm Found in Pizza
August 29, 2026
Surat: A La-Pino’z Pizza outlet at Lajamani Chowk in Mota Varachha was closed by the Surat Municipal Corporation’s (SMC) health department after a video purportedly showing a insect coming out of a pizza went viral on social media. However, questions have been raised over the health department’s initial response and its failure to issue an official statement following the action.
According to the information available, the Sarthana zone health department initially did not take action despite the video circulating on social media. The matter was subsequently brought to the attention of senior authorities, following which an inspection was carried out.
The inspection continued until around 2 am, during which officials reportedly found objectionable material. The civic body subsequently imposed a fine of Rs 30,000 and closed the outlet.
However, despite the seriousness of the allegations and the action taken, the health department did not issue any official explanation or publicly share details of the inspection. This has raised questions over how the case was handled and whether details of the action were being withheld from public scrutiny. DeshGujarat
