Dwarka Temple Dhwaja Booking Fraud: One Booked for Duping Devotees with Fake Receipts

Dwarka: The local police have registered a case against a local resident for allegedly cheating two devotees of Rs 1.02 lakh by issuing fake receipts for Dhwaja (flag) offerings at the Shree Dwarkadhish Temple.

The accused, Shivam Thakar, allegedly collected Rs 51,000 each from two devotees, Puja Mewada and Deep Mer, for Dhwaja bookings using forged receipts. According to police, the payments were transferred directly to Thakar’s bank account.

The alleged fraud came to light when Tirthrajsinh Rajput, a Bhuj-Kutch resident, approached Samast Gugali Brahmin Gnati 505, which manages the Dhwaja rituals at the temple, to verify the booking dates. He submitted two receipts and payment details for verification.

The organisation’s manager, Dhaval Devmurari, reportedly found that the receipts were fake, carried forged signatures in his name, and did not contain the trust’s official contact details.
