Food safety drive in Vadodara: Retail outlet sealed over misbranding; three units fined

Vadodara: The Vadodara Municipal Corporation (VMC) on Saturday shut a food retail outlet after finding misbranded products during inspections at six food establishments across the city.
The VMC food safety and ward teams inspected one retailer, one food vending unit and four restaurants in areas including Waghodia-Bhayli Road, Old Padra Road, Karelibaug, Muktanand Circle and Sama-Savli Road. Samples of paneer and a pre-packed food stabiliser were also collected for testing.
Bhavika Vision, located below Bright School in Karelibaug, was shut after officials found misbranded products in stock.
Pizza Point on Waghodia-Bhayli Road and Hari Om Dalbati on Sama-Savli Road were issued Schedule-4 notices for unhygienic conditions. Hari Om Dalbati was also fined Rs 5,000.
At Apna Punjab and Jay Mahakali Sev Usal near Muktanand Circle, officials found unhygienic conditions and destroyed 80 kg of inedible vegetables. Both were fined Rs 5,000 each.
The VMC said Rs 15,000 was recovered in fines, while two establishments received Schedule-4 notices and one was shut. DeshGujarat
