GIFT IFSC sees five-fold rise in fund management registrations since 2022

Ahmedabad: Fund management registrations at GIFT IFSC have increased nearly five-fold over four years, rising from 45 in March 2022 to 217 in March 2026, according to data from the Union Finance Ministry.

The growth comes as GIFT IFSC has expanded its financial services ecosystem. Overall registrations and authorisations granted by the International Financial Services Centres Authority (IFSCA) increased from 110 in March 2021 to 1,193 by March 2026.

Fund management entities rose from 45 in March 2022 to 65 in March 2023. The number crossed the 100 mark in March 2024, reaching 104, before increasing to 162 in March 2025 and 217 in March 2026.

The expansion has been accompanied by growth across other financial services at GIFT IFSC. Banking units increased from 15 in March 2021 to 37 by March 2026, while insurance entities rose from 18 to 70 during the same period.

The broadest category, covering market infrastructure institutions, fintech companies and finance companies, recorded the largest numerical increase. Registrations in this segment climbed from 77 in March 2021 to 869 in March 2026.

As of March 31, 2026, GIFT IFSC had 652 entities, including 487 domestic and 165 foreign entities.

The government has attributed the expansion to regulatory and policy measures introduced over the past five years.
