Gujarat University to offer free Wi-Fi and paid internships to students
August 31, 2026
Ahmedabad: Gujarat University has announced free Wi-Fi for students across its campus and an “Earn While You Learn” internship scheme offering paid work opportunities in various university departments.
GU in-charge Vice-Chancellor Jagdish Joshi said students can access the Wi-Fi by registering with their enrollment or mobile number. A dedicated high-speed network will cover the university’s around 30 departments, supporting online courses, lectures and other academic activities.
Under the internship scheme, students will work in administrative, computer programming and clerical roles, gaining practical experience while earning an income.
Joshi also announced a retired judge-led committee to probe alleged scams and irregularities involving former Vice-Chancellor Neerja Gupta.
Educationists stressed that effective implementation will be key, noting that several student-oriented initiatives announced by newly appointed vice-chancellors often fail to take off before their tenure ends. DeshGujarat
