Navi Mumbai-Diu IndiGo flight diverted to Surat due to bad weather
August 31, 2026
Surat: An IndiGo flight from Navi Mumbai to Diu was diverted to Surat Airport on Sunday after sudden weather deterioration, including strong winds and poor visibility, made it difficult for the pilot to land safely at Diu Airport.
IndiGo flight 6E-7023, carrying 42 passengers, took off from Navi Mumbai Airport for Diu. However, as the aircraft approached Diu Airport, weather conditions in the area suddenly worsened. Due to strong winds and low visibility, the pilot decided against attempting a landing and diverted the flight to Surat, prioritising passenger safety.
After coordinating with Air Traffic Control (ATC) and assessing the situation at Diu Airport, the flight proceeded towards Surat. It landed safely at Surat Airport at 12:22 pm, following which the aircraft was parked at Bay No. 5 after completing the necessary clearance procedures.
Airline staff provided the passengers with the necessary facilities at the terminal and informed them about the weather conditions in Diu.
Meanwhile, weather conditions in the operational area of Diu Airport improved. After conditions became favourable, the IndiGo flight departed from Surat Airport at 1:48 pm for Diu.
No untoward incident was reported during the diversion or the subsequent departure to Diu. DeshGujarat
