Gujarat Completes 75% of Average Monsoon Rainfall as of Sept 1

Gandhinagar: As of 6 am today, September 1, Gujarat has received 684.79 mm of cumulative rainfall this monsoon season, accounting for 75.34% of its average seasonal rainfall.

According to data released by the State Emergency Operation Centre (SEOC), South Gujarat continues to be the wettest region, receiving 1,598.59 mm of rainfall so far, or 103.67% of its average seasonal rainfall.

It is followed by the East-Central Gujarat region with 613.56 mm, completing 74.92% of its seasonal average. Saurashtra has recorded 427.05 mm (56.03%), while North Gujarat has received 410.70 mm (56.23%). Kutch remains the driest region, with 147.40 mm, or just 29.49% of its average seasonal rainfall.

Among the districts, Navsari has received 122.34% of its average seasonal rainfall, followed by Valsad at 116.65%, Surat at 106.03% and Dang at 103.07%, making them the top four districts in terms of the percentage of average seasonal rainfall received. Other districts with substantial rainfall include Kheda (96.85%), Anand (94.00%), Bharuch (92.46%) and Tapi (85.95%).

At the other end of the spectrum, Devbhumi Dwarka has received just 6.41% of its seasonal average, followed by Porbandar (18.12%), Jamnagar (28.88%) and Kutch (29.49%), making them among the driest parts of the state so far.

In terms of cumulative rainfall, Valsad tops the state with 2,777.00 mm, followed by Dang with 2,385.67 mm, Navsari with 2,325.00 mm, Surat with 1,605.42 mm and Tapi with 1,250.25 mm.

During the last 24 hours, rainfall was reported in eight districts and 24 talukas of Gujarat. The highest rainfall recorded during the period was 10 mm in Khergam taluka of Navsari district. The statewide average rainfall during the 24-hour period stood at 0.36 mm.

The SEOC data shows that Gujarat received 35.21 mm of rainfall in June, while July contributed 552.57 mm and August recorded 97.01 mm. No rainfall was recorded in September so far, taking the cumulative seasonal total to 684.79 mm. DeshGujarat
