Air India Express Set to Resume Direct Surat – Sharjah Flights from November

Surat: Air India Express is set to resume direct flights between Surat and Sharjah from November, with bookings already open for the service under the upcoming winter schedule. Initially, the airline will operate the service once a week, with the frequency likely to be increased to three or four days a week later, depending on demand.

According to the booking schedule, the first direct flight from Surat to Sharjah is scheduled for November 4. Flight IX 275, operated by an Airbus A320, will depart from Surat Airport at 1:25 pm and arrive at Sharjah International Airport at 3:15 pm.

The return flight, IX 342, will depart from Sharjah at 5:50 pm and arrive in Surat at 10 pm on the same day. The service will also be operated by an Airbus A320.

Flight timings

Flight Route Departure Arrival Duration Aircraft
IX 275 Surat → Sharjah 1:25 pm 3:15 pm 3h 20m Airbus A320
IX 342 Sharjah → Surat 5:50 pm 10:00 pm 2h 40m Airbus A320

The resumption of the Surat-Sharjah service is expected to provide a direct international air link for passengers travelling between South Gujarat and the Gulf region. The route had operated earlier but was subsequently discontinued.

Surat Airport has previously handled international flights to destinations including Sharjah, Dubai and Bangkok. However, services on some of these routes were discontinued, while the Surat-Dubai connection has operated intermittently.

With bookings now open for the Surat-Sharjah service, the airline could gradually increase the frequency if passenger demand remains strong. The service may eventually operate three to four days a week, similar to the frequency offered on the route earlier.

The resumption is likely to benefit passengers from Surat and neighbouring areas travelling to the UAE for business, employment, tourism and family visits, reducing their reliance on connecting flights. DeshGujarat
